I was trapped in a broken elevator in the tallest building in France, which was famous for having the biggest elevators in the world. These elevators could carry up to 170 people. Half of the elevator was on the 196th floor, and the other half on the 197th floor. I was alone on my ride, which was rare; no one else was in the elevator. Everything was silent. Not even the sounds of the wings on a mosquito could be heard.

The lights had been flickering on and off for the past fifteen minutes. I went over to the other side of the elevator and tried the emergency button. Something snapped, and the lights went out. I continued pressing the button but nothing happened. Then I thought, what was supposed to happen anyway? I had never pressed the elevator emergency button before.

The only source of light now was from the window, which seeped in light from the bright city below. There was no electricity and my phone had run out of batteries. There was no possible way for me to get help.

I stared out at the city below, which felt so remote from me. (Add a few lines here without any action).
